The name

Wait a moment.

In Japanese, ちょっと待って (chotto matte) means “wait a moment”. Mate is マテ. So ちょっとマテ reads as a short pause with mate: the moment between two rounds, two DJ sets, two conversations.

The drink

Not a health tea. Not an energy drink.

Yerba mate leaves and lime
  1. 01

    Cold-brewed mate

Yerba mate leaves from South America, brewed cold for a clean taste with a gentle bitterness.

  2. 02

    Lime and cane sugar

Lime sharpens the leaf. Just enough cane sugar to drink it on its own, never syrupy.

  3. 03

    Fine bubbles

A crisp craft soda with natural caffeine from the leaf, made for nights that run late.

The serve

Whisky, mate, and the can on the table.

  1. The glass arrives with crushed ice, brown sugar and whisky.
  2. The open can comes beside it. You pour the mate yourself.
  3. The can stays on the table until the last sip.

Our take on the Tschunk, the mate cocktail of Berlin’s club nights, made with the spirit Japanese bars pour every day.

Full recipe

In Japan, alcohol is for adults aged 20 and over. Please drink responsibly.
